My soul thirsts for You,
My body longs for You…
Psalm 63:1
O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the night.
Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
Psalm 63:1-8
A favorite from the book of Psalms.
“Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.”
Ask yourself, “Do I truly believe God’s love is better than life?”
I would like to say a resounding YES to this question. Then I realize I spend a lot more time on life than I do with God. I know He is merciful and I’m thankful for that. I know He loves me and I’m thankful for that. I just want MORE of Him. Even with this pursuit of growing closer to Him I need His help. I thank the Lord that He is an “ever present help in time of need.”
By the way… I LOVE the combination of the NIV and NLT you used for this verse. It is beautiful!
Thank you for sharing!
